TL;DR: The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra remains the best Android phone because its titanium build, 200MP camera system, and seven-year update pledge still outclass newer rivals in durability, versatility, and longevity. With One UI 7 and Galaxy AI features rolling out in 2025, it continues to gain value long after launch.
When the Galaxy S24 Ultra arrived in January 2024, it reset expectations for what a flagship Android phone could be. A year later, even with competitors like the Pixel 9 Pro XL and OnePlus 13 on shelves, Samsung’s titanium titan still holds the crown. Here is why.

1. Seven Years of Updates
Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security patches for the S24 Ultra — a commitment matched only by Google and, recently, a handful of rivals. For buyers who keep phones for four or five years, this alone justifies the price.
2. The 200MP Camera Still Leads
The ISOCELL HP2 sensor captures stunning detail, and Samsung’s 5x optical periscope plus 3x telephoto cover every focal length. Post-launch updates improved shutter lag and low-light processing, closing the gap with Pixel’s computational photography.
3. Titanium and Gorilla Armor
The titanium frame and Corning Gorilla Armor glass reduce reflections and survive drops that shatter lesser phones. Few Android devices combine this level of durability with IP68 water resistance.
4. Galaxy AI Matures
With One UI 7, features like Circle to Search, Note Assist, and live translation have become genuinely useful. Samsung has extended Galaxy AI support through 2025, and many tools now run on-device for privacy.
5. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy
Samsung’s overclocked chip delivers class-leading sustained performance and ray tracing. Benchmarks from late 2024 still place it near the top, and real-world gaming remains buttery smooth.
6. The S Pen Is Still Unique
No other mainstream Android flagship offers a built-in stylus. For note-takers, artists, and productivity users, the S Pen remains a decisive advantage that competitors simply cannot match.
7. Display and Battery Balance
The 6.8-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED hits 2,600 nits peak brightness, while the 5,000mAh battery comfortably lasts a full day. 45W wired and 15W wireless charging round out a dependable package.
The Android market has never been more competitive, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s combination of camera versatility, software longevity, and hardware polish keeps it at the top. Until Samsung unveils the S25 Ultra, this remains the phone to beat.
